Starting 2025 on a High Note

This week marked the beginning of the Thailand International Boat Show at Phuket Yacht Haven, running from January 9th to 12th. While we weren’t exhibiting this time, Robert and Iwiyisi made the rounds to catch up with many friends and partners in the marine industry.

We spent time with familiar faces from:

• Asia Marine (Lagoon Catamarans distributor),

• The Yacht Sales Co. (Fountaine Pajot),

• Primus Marine (Beneteau),

• Simpson Marine (now part of the San Lorenzo group),

• Derani Yachts, Asia Global Yachting, Lee Marine, and Northrop & Johnson, among others.

It’s always great to reconnect and strengthen these relationships that are so important to the sailing community here in Southeast Asia.

Busy Week at the Loft

While Robert and Iwiyisi were networking, the team back at SEA Sailmakers was hard at work.

Training: Our repair team leader, K. Noo, and sail loft floor manager, K. Kob, headed to Bangkok for a three-day training course. They focused on maintaining and repairing our 3-step zig-zag sewing machines—key to keeping everything running smoothly in the loft.

Rebranding: We’re also working on refreshing our look for 2025! The design team has been busy creating new logos, T-shirts, and other branding materials, alongside the usual workload of designing sails.

Repairs and New Projects

On the repairs side:

• We worked on a Lagoon 620 sail (Incidence Sails), a Genoa for a Jeanneau (for Elite Yachting), and a Spinnaker for an Island Packet (originally by Rolly Tasker). After some careful repairs, these sails are good to go for many more seasons.

On the production side:

• We completed and installed a sleek black full-batten mainsail and self-tacking jib for a Bavaria Cruiser 57 in Krabi Boat Lagoon.

• We also finished a full-batten mainsail for a Hunter H31.

Celebrating Our Sails in Action

We’d like to give a big shout-out to Allan for sending us a fantastic photo of his Cherub proudly flying the square-top mainsail we made for him. Seeing our sails out in the world, doing what they’re made for, is always such a rewarding part of what we do.

Finally, as we start this new year, we want to take a moment to thank everyone for their support in 2024. We’ve been humbled and inspired by the encouragement we’ve received and look forward to continuing to serve our customers and friends in 2025.
