Meet the people behind our success

Mike started sailing on the River Dart while at Britannia Royal Naval College. After 2.5 years in the Royal Navy aboard the 45,000-tonne aircraft carrier HMS Eagle, he moved into business, becoming general manager and later director of a London-based specialist cleaning company serving major hotel groups and employing over 300 people.

During this period, his sailing was limited to weekends on the South Coast, dinghy sailing, and trips on the Norfolk Broads and River Thames. Mike arrived in Thailand in February 1994 to manage Fast Ferries Siam Ltd in Phuket. In 1997, he joined Rolly Tasker's sailmaking company, later becoming General Manager and Director. After retiring in 2016, he co-founded South East Asia Sails in 2017.
